The Seventh Day of Passion Week Introduction: Today is the last day of the week of the Crucifixion, and the Jewish Sabbath. Jesus was buried in the tomb. The chief priests and the Pharisees deliberated to meet Pilate and asked to send soldiers to guard the tomb of Jesus in case his disciples stole His body. After receiving the permission of Pilate, they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting guard. The Sixth Day of Passion Week Introduction: Friday was the day of Jesus’ crucifixion. The four Gospels have all recorded a great deal on that day. Jesus was overwhelmed with sorrow in Gethsemane, and His sweat was as if it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Shortly after He was betrayed by Judas, many of the disciples forsook him and fled. Peter disavowed him three times. The soldiers mocked Him and spat on him. Wearing the crown of thorns, covered with cuts and bruises, and after a night of interrogation, Jesus carried the heavy cross and walked towards Calvary, where He was crucified.
